Red-necked Phalarope |
After my Arunachal trip in April, I did a few "day trips" around Bengaluru and was able to better many images in my collection.
After the monsoon, in September, I made a family trip to
Gujarat with focus on visiting a few famous temples. I did however manage to
steal one day (30th September) at Jamnagar for birding. I was able
to add the “Red-necked Phalarope” to my collection with “Chiku’s help!
We left Bengaluru on the 29th September. Our Air India
flight to Mumbai was delayed and hence we missed the flight to Jamnagar.
Instead we flew to Rajkot and then drove to Jamnagar. We reached Jamnagar for
Dinner instead of lunch! Warm weather!
29th and 30th night we stayed at President Hotel, Jamnagar. Mustak
Bhai is a great host and the food at the hotel is superb. It was fun meeting
Bitu Bhai and Chicku. I also meet a lot of bird photographers from Jamnagar
that night as they had gathered at Hotel President to launch a “Bird
Photography Club” of their own!
Lions at Devaliya |
1st October, we drove to Gir via Dwarka and Porbandar. 1st
October to 3rd October we stayed at Taj Gateway, Gir. We were in Gir a couple
of weeks in advance. The park opens on 15th October and we were
there on the 1st October. No entry into the forest! So, we made a
trip to “Devaliya” were tourists are enabled to get a glimpse of a couple of captive lions in a
vast enclosure.
On 4th, we drove to Diu. Nice! 4th and 5th October we stayed at Diu ( KOSTAMAR BEACH RESORT ). Enjoyed the beach and good food!
6th October we flew back to Bangalore from DIU. (Diu-Porbandar-Mumbai, Mumbai-Bangalore)
